Ethyl Gallate (Gallic acid), also known as gallic acid or gallic acid, is an organic acid found in plants such as gallnuts, lacquer trees, and tea. Chemical formula C6H2 (OH) 3COOH. Gallic acid is easily soluble in water, alcohols, and ethers, and has the properties of phenols (which are easily oxidized and form blue black precipitates with ferric chloride aqueous solution) and carboxylic acids (which lose carbon dioxide to form coking gallic acid upon heating). Gallic acid can be used as a developer, its alkaline bismuth salt is used as a preservative, and it is also used in the pharmaceutical industry.
